Repsol cleared to remove Gyda platform offshore Norway

Repsol has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority for removal and disposal of the Gyda platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, NorwayRepsol has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority for removal and disposal of the Gyda platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

The Gyda field, in a water depth of 66 m (216 ft), was developed with a combined drilling, accommodation and processing platform with a steel jacket.

Production started in 1990 and finished in 2020, with P&A of the wells currently in progress.

According to the formal removal resolution, decommissioning must be completed by the end of 2023.
