FORNEBU, Norway – Equinor has awarded Aker Solutions a letter of intent from Equinor for topsides modifications to the Troll B and C platforms in the Norwegian North Sea.
The work will include installation of equipment for receiving electrical power from shore via a subsea cable, replacing power generation from existing gas turbines at the platforms.
Aker Solutions’ scope will include engineering, procurement, construction and prefabrication of systems, and installation at the offshore location.
Work starts immediately, with engineering and construction to be performed at the company’s offices in Bergen and at its yard in Egersund and is due to be completed by the end of 2025.
The Troll field is 65 km (40.4 mi) west of Bergen: the electrical power cable will be connected to a shore link at Kollsnes, outside Bergen.
Contract award remains subject to a final investment decision on the project and regulatory approval.
