HOUSTON – Tata Steel has awarded McDermott International a pre-FEED contract for a proposed North Sea gas storage scheme.
The Enhancing Value by Emissions Reuse and Emission Storage (EVEREST) Project will involve capturing CO2 from Tata’s blast furnaces in IJmuiden, 19 mi (30 km) west of Amsterdam, and transporting it to disused gas fields in the North Sea for subsurface storage.
McDermott will manage engineering and design from its office in The Hague.
