TRONDHEIM, Norway – OKEA has signed an agreement to acquire Equinor’s 40% operated interest in two production licenses in the Norwegian North Sea.
PLs195 and 195 B include the small Aurora gas discovery, west of the Neptune Energy-operated Gjøa field, with recoverable volumes though to be in the range 12-28 MMboe.
Other partners in the licenses are Wintershall DEA and Petoro. OKEA aims to pursue a low-cost development of Aurora as a tie-in to Gjøa without further appraisal drilling.
However, the transaction and change of operatorship remain subject to approval by Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
