Bell helicopter undergoing trials for offshore Guyana operations

March 11, 2025
Omni Helicopters International (OHI) will conduct an offshore operational evaluation for the Bell 525 helicopter. OHI also inked helicopter lease agreements with Milestone and GDHF.

Bell Textron and Omni Helicopters International Group will jointly conduct an offshore operational evaluation for the Bell 525 helicopter at Omni’s base in Georgetown, Guyana.

The exercise will continue for a few months, followed by type certification. Bell then plans to operate the helicopter in collaboration with Omni for a series of offshore mission flights, with the aircraft loaded to representative mission weights.

It will fly to multiple offshore installations in the region, undergoing loading, unloading and routine refuelling as part of a sustained trial under actual field conditions.

The aircraft will also follow the same sequences of flights as Omni's currently operational fleet in Guyana, with a focus on operational resilience and durability when exposed to frequent ground handling activity, both offshore and onshore.

The Bell 525 is progressing toward FAA certification.
