RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has agreed to acquire bp’s stakes in six blocks in frontier ultra-deepwater offshore northern Brazil.
The concessions are 120 km (75 mi) from the state of Amapá, in Brazil’s equatorial margin region. All were awarded in 2013 under the ANP’s 11th bidding round.
Petrobras owns 30% of blocks FZA-M-57, FZA-M-86, FZA-M-88, FZA-M-125, and FZA-M-127 (bp 30%). It has also signed an agreement to assume Total’s operated interests, although this remains subject to ANP approval.
The company currently has a 30% operated position in the FZA-M-59 block (bp 70%).
