ST JOHN’S, Canada – The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is inviting comments on the draft Labrador Shelf Offshore Area Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Update, prepared by Aivek Stantec.
A SEA Update reviews potential environmental impacts associated with a plan, program or policy proposal and allows for incorporation of environmental considerations at the earliest stages of program planning.
It also involves a broader-scale environmental assessment that takes into account the larger ecological issues, and engagement with a variety of stakeholders.
The C-NLOPB is conducting the update with the support of a working group co-chaired by the board and the Nunatsiavut government, with members from federal and provincial government agencies, oil and gas and fishing industries, and indigenous groups.
Comments on the draft update should be submitted by noon on Sept. 1, via email to [email protected].
