PERTH, Australia – The jackup Noble Tom Prosser has mobilized to the Apus-1 exploration well location offshore Western Australia, having recently drilled the nearby Pavo-1 oil discovery.

According to Carnarvon Energy, the partner to operator Santos, Apus-1 will target 235 MMbbl of liquids and 408 bcf of gas in the Caley and Milne sands.

The Caley Member sands will be the first of two target reservoirs in the well. In the Dorado-3 appraisal well drilled in 2019, the same sands flow tested at equipment limits of around 11,000 b/d of oil, and they also proved to be oil-bearing in the Pavo-1 well.

Second primary target reservoir will be the Milne Member sands, below the Caley. The Milne was hydrocarbon-bearing in the Dorado field.

Pavo-1 is 46 km (28.6 mi) east of Dorado and 27 km (16.8 mi) northeast of Pavo-1. Santos/Carnarvon are targeting an all-inclusive development through the Dorado infrastructure.
