KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia–Waygate Technologies says that it has signed an intellectual property and technology agreement with Malaysian concerning a jointly developed robotic inspection platform.
Representatives from the two companies attended a signing ceremony at last week’s 2022 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Asia in Kuala Lumpur.
Initially Petronas will implement the robotic crawler platform, based on the BIKE robotic system, in its operation with Waygate providing support via training and other services.
Petronas’ version of the standard BIKE robot will be fitted with a cleaning tool and an ultrasonic and eddy current inspection capabilities.
The two companies also plan to develop two new versions: the BIKE I-Beam, to address obstacles and sharp edges in confined spaces, and a micro crawler version for inspection of smaller pipes.
