Nine companies join CNOOC in offshore China partnerships

HONG KONG– CNOOC has signed strategic cooperation agreements with Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Equinor, Husky, Kufpec, Roc Oil, Shell, SK Innovation, and Total.

All cover areas in thePearl River Mouth basin offshore China including Area A and Area B (existing mining license areas and contract areas excluded).

Area A covers around 15,300 sq km (5,907 sq mi) in water depths of 80-120 m (262-393 ft) and is only open for the deep layers below the Paleogene Enping formation.

Area B extends more than 48,700 sq km (18,803 sq mi) in water depths of 500-3,000 m (1,640-9,842 ft) and is open for all the subsurface layers.

These agreements should facilitate a long-term and stable cooperation and shared development opportunities, creating conditions for the final signing of contracts, CNOOC added.
