Offshore staff
SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has been awarded operatorship of two deepwater blocks in the Egyptian sector of the Mediterranean Sea under the latest EGAS bid round.
Blocks 9 and 8 are both near the boundary with Cypriot waters.
Eni will hold 100% equity in block 9, also known as North Leil Offshore, which spans 5,105 sq km (1,971 sq mi) in water depths ranging from 2,100-2,800 m (6,890-9,186 ft).
At block 8, named Karawan Offshore, the company and partner BP will each have a 50% interest. This license, which extends more than 4,565 sq km (1,762 sq mi), is in 2,000-2,500 m (6,562-8,202 ft) of water.
