SINGAPORE – PetroVietnam has awarded KrisEnergy a 100% operated interest in a production-sharing contract (PSC) for block 115/09 offshore Vietnam.

The 7,382-sq km (2,850-sq mi) concession is in the southern Song Hong basin in water depths ranging mainly from 60-200 m (197-656 ft). Under the PSC’s initial four-year term, KrisEnergy will reprocess 3,000 km (1,864 mi) of existing 2D seismic data, acquire and process 850 sq km (328 sq mi) of new3D seismic data, and drill one exploration well.

Seismic reprocessing, to start later this year, will assist in the identification of prospective areas to be the focus of the 3D campaign.

Chris Gibson-Robinson, KrisEnergy’s director exploration & production, said: “We have already identified multiple petroleum plays within block 115/09, each with the potential for commercial accumulations of gas/condensate and/or oil.”

The company also has non-operated interests in block 105-110/04 offshore northernVietnam and in block 120 offshore central Vietnam.
