LONDON – Tower Resources has secured a one-year extension from Cameroon’s government of the initial period of the exploration phase for the Thali production sharing contract (PSC) in the offshore Rio del Rey basin.
This had been due to expire on Sept. 15, 2019, but preparations are under way for a site survey over the proposed NJOM-3 drilling area, prior to the start of the planned appraisal well on the Njonji structure.
Geoquip Marine’s MV Investigator vessel is in Cameroon and should start work on the survey soon. After receiving its report, Tower plans to discuss the results with the designated drilling contractor COSL before finalizing arrangements for the well.
The company was awarded the Thali PSC in September 2015. It covers an area of 119.2 sq km (46 sq mi), in water depths ranging from 8-48 m (26-157 ft), in the eastern part of the Niger Delta.
