Liberia’s government, through the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority, has opened a direct negotiation licensing round.
This covers 29 offshore blocks in the Liberia and Harper basins, and it enacts the 2019 amendments to the country’s exploration and production law.
TGS, which is supporting the process, is offering its portfolio of multi-client subsurface data for the available blocks, with more than 24,000 km of 2D seismic data and over 26,000 sq km of 3D data.
Included are more than 5,100 sq km of newly reprocessed 3D and 12,000 km of 2D data, both enhanced using pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) to sharpen imaging of key targets in the Cretaceous.
Interested companies can use the datasets to evaluate the potential in the little explored but proven petroleum system, TGS added.
The geological plays range from the syn-rift Lower Cretaceous to the deepwater Upper Cretaceous, with multiple source rock intervals throughout the stratigraphy.
President Joseph Nyuma Bokai Sr. is keen to stress Liberia’s commitment to a stable and favorable investment environment, the company concluded.
