OSLO, Norway – BW Energy has produced first oil from the fourth well of the Hibiscus/Ruche Phase 1 development in the Dussafu license offshore Gabon.

Current output is around 6,500 b/d. DHIBM-6H was drilled as a horizontal well from the MaBoMo production platform to a TD of 4,125 m in the Gamba sandstone reservoir at the Hibiscus field.

The jackup Borr Norve has since started drilling DRM-3H, the fifth well and the first in the Ruche Gamba section in this campaign.

Two previously completed wells, DHIBM-3H and -4H, have encountered problems with the electrical submersible pumps (ESPs). At present DHIBM-4H is flowing naturally at 2,800 b/d, while DHIBM-3H is offline while the team investigate the cause and work on solutions.

Current gross production from the Dussafu license is around 26,500 b/d, and following completion of the campaign early next year, total oil production should climb 40,000 b/d.

The oil produced at Hibiscus/Ruche is transported by pipeline to the BW Adolo FPSO for processing and storage then offloaded to export tankers.
