HOUSTON – VAALCO Energy has brought onstream the Avouma 3H-ST development well offshore Gabon.
The well, drilled as a sidetrack from the Avouma platform on the Etame field, delivered an initial flow rate of around 3,100 b/d, above pre-drill expectations.
It targeted Gamba hydrocarbons at the top of a structure not produced by prior wells.
Results confirmed the extension of the Avouma reservoir, potentially allowing for additional wells at Avouma in future.
Drilling has since started on the ETBSM 1HB-ST development well, also from the Avouma platform. This will again target the Gamba reservoir and test the deeper Dentale formation, which has proven productive in other areas in the Etame license.
