Development studies progressing for Luiperd EPS offshore South Africa

VANCOUVER – Africa Energy Corp. has issued updates on its E&P programs offshore southern Africa.
On South Africa’s block 11B/12B, the TotalEnergies-led joint venture continues to assess an early production system (EPS) for phased development of deepwater gas-condensate discoveries in the Paddavissie Fairway.
The partners are working on studies and preparing a field development plan and an environmental application, with a view to agreeing gas terms and submitting an application for a Production Right before the Exploration Right expires in September 2022.
The EPS would provide first production from the Luiperd discovery and would speed up the block’s development through use of nearby infrastructure on the adjacent block, in order to supply gas to customers in Mossel Bay.
It would also cut the capex required to attain first production on block 11B/12B. A full development of the Paddavissie Fairway would follow as South Africa’s gas market grows.
Analysis of newly acquired seismic data has identified further prospectivity in the Fairway and to the east.
A seabed survey has finished ahead of drilling of the Gaznia-1 well on block 2B.
Operator Azinam has completed the well plan and is negotiations with various contractors on rig costs. The well must be drilled before the Exploration Right expires in November 2022.
