DALLAS – Upgrades to the Okume production complex offshore Equatorial Guinea should be completed during 4Q, according to operator Kosmos Energy.

The program involves providing additional power, water injection and gas lift capacity for further de-bottlenecking of the facilities and additional electrical submersible pumps (ESPs).

One ESP conversion took place in in and more are planned following the upgrade project.

In June, the first of three infill wells was drilled at Okume, encountering good-quality, oil-saturated reservoir sands.

The rig has since moved to the second well location and hookup is under way for the first well.  All three wells should be onstream during 4Q.

At the Ceiba field, also off Equatorial Guinea, a newly completed infrastructure integrity project should improve reliability and allow greater flexibility for supplying gas lift to additional wells.

To the northwest, offshore Mauritania and Senegal, Kosmos is a partner in the bp-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project.

Construction continues of the FLNG vessel, with the living quarters installed and the four remaining sponsons integrated in the final dry dock.

As for the breakwater jetty which the vessel will moor alongside, seven caissons have now been transported offshore with three so far installed. And all the Phase 1 subsea trees have been fabricated.

Also completed is a transaction for the sale and lease back of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim FPSO. bp, with the approval of the host governments and its co-venturers, agreed to sell the vessel, currently under construction by Technip Energies in China, to an affiliate of bp.

The FPSO will be leased back to bp as operator under a long-term lease agreement for exclusive use in the GTA project.
