LONDON – Cameroon’s government has approved a further extension of the first exploration period of the offshore Thali license.
Operator Tower Resources was preparing to drill the NJOM-3 appraisal well but declared force majeure just over a year ago, due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company is now waiting for formal confirmation from the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development of the details of the extension.
Tower said coordinating personnel and equipment from multiple service providers and locations remains complex for a well with extensive testing, but it has drawn up plans to complete NJOM-3 well safely in the present circumstances.
It now intends to finalize a schedule with the various service companies involved, pending pandemic developments and the companies' individual circumstances.
