LONDON – Chariot Oil & Gas has negotiated terms for a new license offshore Morocco.
The formal award of Rissana Offshore should take place next year, subject to routine regulatory approvals.
A subsidiary of Chariot will operate with a 75% interest, the remainder held by Morocco’s Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM).
Rissana, covering an area of 8,476 sq km (3,273 sq mi), will surround the offshore boundaries of Chariot’s Lixus Offshore license which contains the Anchois gas discovery, and prospective northern areas of the previously held Mohammedia and Kenitra offshore permits.
Targets include the Mio-Pliocene gas play surrounding Lixus and on-trend with Anchois.
The minimum initial commitment will be a 2D seismic survey over a portion of the acreage to assist evaluation of potential gas plays across Rissana.
