CNOOC achieved net production during the third quarter of 542.1 MMboe, 8.5% up on the corresponding quarter in 2023.
In China, the increase came mainly from oil and gas fields such as Bozhong 19-6 and Enping 20-4. Elsewhere, there was a marked rise in production from the Exxon Mobil-operated Payara project offshore Guyana.
Over the period, CNOOC recorded nine new discoveries and appraised 23 oil and gas-bearing structures. One of the standout finds was the Wenchang 10-3 East offshore gas discovery, which highlighted the potential in medium-to-deep plays in the western portion of the Pearl River Mouth Basin.
Caofeidian 23-6, successfully appraised, will likely emerge as a mid-size to large oil field.
The company started production from seven new development projects, including Bozhong 19-2 Oilfield, Liuhua 11-1/4-1 Oilfield Secondary and Shenhai-1 Phase II Natural Gas.
