Petronas, via Malaysia Petroleum Management, has awarded Vestigo a small field asset production sharing contract for a discovered resource opportunity (DRO) cluster offshore Sabah.
This had been offered under the Malaysia Bid Round Plus (MBR+) cycle, introduced last October.
The NBE Cluster comprises the Nosong, Bongawan North and Epidot fields, mainly gas discoveries.
According to Petronas, there are similarities with Samarang, a mature field 25 km south of Nosong that has proven production deliverability.
MBR+ provides an additional opportunity for E&P companies to acquire and explore Malaysia’s DRO and late-life assets beyond the annual MBR process through using information made available under the Petronas myPROdata potal.
Over the next few weeks, the company expects to sign new production sharing contracts with other MBR+ bid winners.
