The new 5G network will send information from sensors in more than 12,000 wells and pipelines to autonomous control rooms.

ADNOC plans to construct a private 5G wireless network over an 11,000-sq km area in the UAE.

This will deliver high-bandwidth connectivity across the company’s offshore and onshore operations and help it to integrate its advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions at its most remote facilities.

Other envisaged benefits are reduced costs through automation, improved efficiency, lower emissions, and enhance staff safety.

The project, due to be completed next year, should generate $1.5 billion in value during its first five years of operation ADNOC claimed.

The new 5G network will send information from sensors in more than 12,000 wells and pipelines to autonomous control rooms, supporting real-time recommendations to increase the lifespan of these facilities.

In addition, the investment should enable digitalization of wellheads and provide better visibility over operations, improving productivity.
