LONDON — Perenco Congo’s MOPU Tchendo 2 has produced first power from three newly installed gas turbines.

To limit emissions, the company commissioned Dixstone to convert Tchendo 2, a former drilling rig, to a MOPU with the three turbines helping to power operations supplied by up to 10 MMcf/d.

This will free some of the Congolese energy network for local needs, the company added.

The three turbines, with a combined output of 27 MW, will support production from the Likouala, Emeraude and PNGF fields.  Later Perenco plans to add six new wells to produce a further 10 MMbbl of reserves.
