LONDON -- Develoment of offshore natural gas reserves in Qatar's North field is included in plans for an new integrated onshore gas to liquids project.
Qatar Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell Plc. announced the Pearl GTL project to transport and process the gas for gas liquids and ethane, and to convert the remaining gas into liquid hydrocarbon products.
At capacity, some 1.6 Bcf/d of wellhead gas will come from North field to feed the complex at Ras Laffan Industrial City.
North field non-associated gas recoverable reserves are estimated to exceed 900 tcf. The Pearl GTL complex is expected to produce 3 Bboe over its lifetime.
