WINDSOR, UK – Centrica has brought onstream the Seven Seas field in the UK southern gas basin.
The company is targeting first gas from theRhyl field around year-end and from the first York field well in early 2013. It has also started flowing a second well at Ensign, although due to mechanical issues, the initial rate is below expectations.
Centrica’s exploration wells on the Cooper and Bligh prospects in the Norwegian/UK sectors encountered hydrocarbons but tight, non-commercial reservoirs.
Last month the company was awarded six licenses covering three blocks under the27th UK offshore licensing round. Centrica will operate three of the blocks, two of which are west of Shetland, a new area for the company.
