LONDON –Tullow Oil expects start-up this month at the Katy gas field development in the UK southern North Sea. Development comprises a single well tieback to the ConocoPhillips-operated Caister Murdoch System facilities.
Last year Tullow discovered Carboniferous gas with the Cameron-1 exploration well (44/19a-7a) in the same area. It expects to make a decision on development options with the partners during the first half of this year.
Off the Netherlands, the company started a concerted well and reservoir campaign late last year on the Joint Development Area (JDA).
It expects to participate in four more non-operated wells on the acreage this year, with 25 JDA wells to be worked over by mid-2013. The aim is to extend field life by 10 years.
Tullow has also purchased 51,174 sq km (19,758 sq mi) of PGS MegaMerge 3D seismic data over the Dutch southern North Sea to evaluate future regional exploration.
During 2011 the company completed a risked and ranked prospect inventory over its E-quadrant acreage, and this year it plans to drill the Vincent prospect in block E11.
