ABERDEEN, UK – ConocoPhillips has achieved first production from an appraisal well that extends the limits of the Jade gas/condensate field in the J-Area of the UK North Sea.
Jade ties-back to theJudy platform, 240 km (149 mi) southeast of Aberdeen.
Well 30/2C-J12Z was designed for appraisal purposes, targeting thehigh-pressure/high-temperature Triassic sandstone interval in a structure south of the main Jade field area.
The jackupMaersk Resilient started drilling from the Jade platform in August 2013, and the well was completed and online in late June.
David Chenier, UK president for ConocoPhillips said: “The achievement of production from this well means that another structure to the south has also now been de-risked for targeting as a potential development opportunity for the future.”
