Petrobras starts offshore oil production from BaĂșna field

PetrĂłleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) (NYSE:PBR) has initiated operations of the FPSO Cidade de ItajaĂ­ to start oil production at BaĂșna field in block BMS-40 offshore Brazil in the southern Santos basin.

RIO DE JANEIRO –PetrĂłleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) (NYSE:PBR) has initiated operations of the FPSO Cidade de ItajaĂ­ to start oil production at BaĂșna field in block BMS-40 offshore Brazil in the southern Santos basin.

At present the FPSO is connected to well 9-SPS-88 which can produce as much as 12,000 b/d of oil, and five more production wells are scheduled for connection in the coming months. There also are four water injection wells and one gas injection well.

The FPSO, owned by the Odebrecht and Teekay consortium, can process 80,000 b/d of 34ÂșAPI oil and 2 MMcm/d (70.6 MMcf/d) of gas. It is in 275 m (902 ft) of water 210 km 131 mi) offshore.

This is Petrobras third system to go into production this year. The other two are FPSOCidade de SĂŁo Paulo, which started production at the SapinhoĂĄ field and the FPSO Cidade de SĂŁo Vicente in SapinhoĂĄ Norte.
