PARIS, Framce  Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon (POGG) has produced first oil from its Hylia South West accumulation offshore Gabon in 40 m water depth.

The company discovered the structure late last year with the HYSM-01 exploration well in the Nto reservoir on the Mono permit, which encountered a 40 m net oil-bearing column.

Another column, currently undergoing testing, is in the Madiela carbonate reservoir.

In first-quarter 2023, POGG installed a 10-km pipeline and a Fololo platform, its proprietary design self-elevating offshore production installation, to fast-track production testing through the Hylia platform facilities 10 km to the south.

The HYSM-01 well, completed this summer, is equipped with an electrical submersible pump and is producing 3,000 bbl/d.

Further testing will get underway in the next few weeks to firm up the potential of another column discovered in the Madiela carbonate reservoir and also NTO, currently estimated at 20 to 100 MMbbl-plus in place.

In parallel, studies have begun ahead of further additional appraisal and development drilling scheduled for the next 18 months.

Adrien Broche, general manager of POGG, said Hylia South West followed soon after the Wamba discovery, which is presently producing 2,000 bbl/d. More exploration wells are planned to be drilled at Wamba and on the Igonguino prospect.
