PARIS, France – TotalEnergies and SOCAR plan a second phase of the Absheron gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, following the start-up of phase one in July.
This would range production from the current 1.5 bcm/yr to 5.5 bcm/yr as part of Azerbaijan's plans for stepping up supplies to the European market.
TotalEnergies also says that it intends to participate in renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan, including wind.
Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said: “In line with our multi-energy strategy, we also look forward to supporting Azerbaijan in implementing its own energy transition strategy, through an agreement to develop renewable energy combined with electricity storage.”
