LYSAKER, Norway—Aker BP has started production from the subsea Frosk Field development in the Alvheim area of the Norwegian North Sea.
Startup was on time, 18 months after submission of the plan for development and operation, within the originally estimated cost of about $230 million. Vår Energi is the sole partner.
Frosk Field is tied back to the Alvheim FPSO via existing subsea infrastructure. Aker BP estimates recoverable reserves at 10 MMboe.
Development drew on the company’s alliance model, under which the Alvheim benefits from continuity on rigs, vessels, facilities and personnel. This allows for transfer of learnings and steady improvement in methods and technology from one project to the next, the company added.
Frosk is the first of three new subsea tieback projects to the Alvheim FPSO, with Kobra East and Gekko planned to come onstream in early 2024 and Tyrving expected on stream in 2025.
