OSLO, Norway— Production from the Tortue Field in the Dussafu Marin PSC offshore Gabon remains restricted by a shortage of gas-lift capacity.
However, a new gas-lift compressor arrived recently in Gabon, according to operator BW Energy's latest results statement, and it should be delivered shortly to the FPSO for installation at year-end, followed by startup in first-quarter 2023.
The Hibiscus/Ruche development is progressing with both the new BW MaBoMo production jackup and the subsea pipeline to the BW Adolo FPSO in place.
The Borr Norve jackup is due to spud the first production well in January, with first oil expected toward the end of March. In total, the rig will drill four Hibiscus Gamba and two Ruche Gamba wells, adding 30,000 bbl/d to overall production.
BW Energy now estimates capex of about $440 million for the Phase 1 development, below the final budgeted figure of $490 million.
Offshore Namibia, the company is negotiating heads of terms for the Kudu gas to power project with a local power utility. A review of geophysical and well data from previous exploration on the field and recently purchased 2D seismic data has confirmed the Kudu license potential.
BW Energy has decided to acquire 3D seismic over the license to enhance the depositional model, identify potential exploration targets and improve data to support FEED programs and potential future farm-in discussions.
Finally, Brazil’s ANP agency has approved the company as a deepwater Class A operator, and it expects to complete acquisition from Petrobras early next year of a 100% operated interest in the offshore Golfinho and Camarupim clusters, along with 65% of the BM-ES-23 Block, also taking over the FPSO Cidade de Vitoria from Saipem.
The transactions should net BW Energy 9,000 bbl/d of oil and provide low risk in-field development opportunities with potential long-term upside.
