LONDON – Serica Energy has issued an update on its project to restore production from a long-suspended well at the Rhum gas/condensate field in the UK northern North Sea.
New completion equipment has been installed in the R3 well and a flow test performed, delivering a stabilized rate of 58.4 MMcf/d of gas and 135 b/d of condensate through a 60/64th-in. choke.
Rates were constrained by surface well test equipment on board the semisub WilPhoenix, but the well should achieve higher rates when in production.
A diving support vessel will install subsea control equipment required to allow for a re-start this summer.
Recompletion of R3 will increase the Rhum production capacity using existing facilities on the host Bruce platform.
Mitch Flegg, CEO of Serica Energy, said: “The volumes flowed during the test are equivalent to over 10,000 boe/d… initial analysis of the data recovered indicates that the flow potential of the well is at the upper end of our range of expectations.
“The third Rhum well will enable enhanced production rates from the field and will provide redundancy to support production from the other two Rhum wells.”
