ABERDEEN, UK – Equinor has awarded Wood a three-year agreement for the heavy-oil Mariner field in the UK northern North Sea.

Wood’s work scope, valued at around $75 million, covers operations, maintenance, modifications, and other offshore services on the Mariner A platform and Mariner B floating storage vessel.

It runs to 4Q 2023, with extension options. Wood’s Aberdeen-based onshore and offshore teams are managing the program, with support from some of the company’s global engineering centers.

Craig Shanaghey, president of the company’s operations services business in Europe and Africa, said: “Mariner is still in its early years of production and, with Wood’s ambition to realize a digitally-enabled future, we see excellent potential to explore new opportunities that will promote a lifetime of sustainable and responsible operations at the field.”

Mariner is Equinor’s first operated field development in the UK North Sea. Technologies deployed include automated drilling and digital twins.
