PERTH, Australia – The co-venturers in Western Australia’s North West Shelf (NWS) Project have approved certain principles for processing third-party gas through the NWS Project facilities.
The agreements are with Woodside Energy, concerning gas from the offshore Pluto fields, and with Mitsui E&P Australia and Beach Energy for the onshore Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2.
This opens the way for the NWS Project to toll third-party gas at the Karratha Gas Plant (KGP) as more processing capacity becomes available during the 2020s.
Gas produced from the Pluto fields will likely be transported to the NWS Project facilities via the proposed Pluto-KGP Interconnector, currently targeted to be ready for start-up in 2022.
Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said: “The processing of third-party gas resources will extend the operating life of the NWS Project and ensure KGP continues its significant contribution to the Australian and Western Australian economies for years into the future…
“We look forward to working with all parties and the government of Western Australia over the coming months to finalize the project agreements and regulatory approvals.”
