KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – On Dec. 3, JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (Malaysia) Ltd. started commercial oil production through the FPSO Helang from the Layang field in block SK10 offshore Sarawak.
Discovered in May 1991, the Layang field began natural gas production in May 2017.
Production from Layang is estimated at 3,000 b/d of oil and about 10,000 boe/d with natural gas combined.
The FPSO Helang is also planned to be used for the Helang oil field in block SK10. Oil and gas production from the Layang and Helang fields is estimated to reach about 20,000 boe/d.
JX Nippon is the operator of block SK10, with partner PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd.
