BYGNES, Norway –Gassco has awarded two contracts to IKM Gruppen AS covering design and development for the planned Skanled pipeline. IKM will pursue design activities related to the pipeline system with associated subsea structures, landfalls, and receiving/metering stations.
Phase 1 of the work will last for a year, with options for detailed engineering of the pipeline system. The two contracts are jointly worth NOK 50 million ($9.3 million).
The pipeline would move gas between Norway, Sweden, and Denmark over a total length of 853 km (530 mi). Final go-ahead decision for the NOK 10 billion ($1.86 billion) project is due in October 2009. If approved, gas delivery is scheduled to begin in December 2012.
