SYDNEY, Australia — Worley has secured a FEED Phase II services contract for the proposed offshore Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) project, according to a late April company news release.

The engineering study is progressing in line with the initial project planning.

Morocco’s Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines of Morocco and Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. are promoting the project, which calls for installation of an offshore pipeline more than 7,000 km long—the longest in the world.

It would traverse the maritime areas of 11 West African countries and extend to Europe.

The NMGP pipeline also would provide a new option for countries along the route to export their gas both to their neighboring nations and to Europe.

Intecsea in The Hague is managing the overall FEED services, including development of the project implementation framework and supervision of the engineering survey.

Worley’s London office is responsible for the onshore FEED scope, the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Land Acquisition Studies.

The group’s offices in Africa, and its global integrated delivery team in Hyderabad, India, also will support the project. Advisian, Worley’s consulting business, will investigate electrification and the feasibility of energy self-sufficiency in the region.

Finally, the group’s U.K. and Madrid offices will assess the potential for use of renewable energy to power the pipeline and reduce its carbon footprint.
