Gas for Europe to operate German section of Nord Stream 2 pipeline

ZUG, Switzerland – Nord Stream 2 AG has formed a German subsidiary.

Gas for Europe GmbH, headquartered in Schwerin, will own and operate the 54-km (33.6-mi) section of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in German territorial waters and the landfall facility in Lubmin, as an independent transmission operator in accordance with the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG).

Last November, the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) issued a statement that establishing a subsidiary would be a pre-condition for the certification according to the German Energy Industry Act.
