HOOFDDORP, the Netherlands – Petrodec has completed skidding operations for the topsides removal of Perenco UK’s unmanned Pickerill A platform in the UK southern North Sea.

Following a P&A campaign completed last year by Petrodec’s support vessel Energy Endeavour (ERDA), the same vessel was used this year for topsides preparation, skidding, and sea fastening.

The topsides arrived at Vlissingen harbor in the Netherlands yesterday and will soon be offloaded for final dismantlement.

Prior to skidding, Petrodec installed additional reinforcements, with skid beams laid on the jackup deck and beneath the topsides.

The company then ensured load levels were carefully maintained on all supports while the topsides was skidded into position on the jackup deck.

According to the company, using this vessel for P&A and topsides preparation/removal operations, as opposed to a drilling rig and heavy lift vessel, is an industry first.
