OSLO, Norway — The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has opened 12 blocks in the Nigeria 2024 Bid Round.

According to PGS, six are on the continental shelf, four are deep offshore blocks and the other two are onshore in the Niger Delta.

PGS has compiled multiclient seismic data over 10 of the blocks, from its MegaSurvey full-stack PSTM program to the current Nigeria Vision, a fully reprocessed PSDM dataset with pre-stack products that should be available to license from the third quarter onward.

Through depth reprocessing, the company said, enhanced imaging of targets can be achieved with improved illumination of complex structures associated with the diapiric movement of the Akata Shale formation.

Reprocessing using modern broadband techniques and velocity model building is also leading to clearer imaging of structures, faults and traps.

To further support the new round, the company is offering other recently reprocessed PSTM datasets, such as Nigeria MegaSurveyPlus. As part of this package, AVO compliant pre-stack data can be licensed to help reveal depositional features, potentially de-risking exploration.

PGS is also offering data coverage of the Amazonita, Safira Oeste and Safira Leste blocks in the Santos Basin, all newly approved by the ANP and CNPE for Brazil’s upcoming Permanent Offer Sharing Round.

All the blocks are said to exhibit clear carbonate buildup on structural highs, four-way dip closures, well-imaged leads beneath a salt seal, and a proximal source kitchen.

Evidence from the Parati and Dolomita Sul wells suggests the presence of hydrocarbons within the Safira Leste and Oeste areas.
