BHP commissions first OBN survey offshore Trinidad

LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands – Seabed Geosolutions, a joint venture between Fugro and CGG, has won two contracts offshore Trinidad and Nigeria with a total value of more than $60 million.
The company will acquire BHP’s first ever 3D ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic acquisition survey – 225 sq km (87 sq mi) in total – over the greaterAngostura field in shallow waters, starting in 1Q 2018.
This will involve use of the latest ROV-deployed node handling systems, co-developed with Fugro. BHP has commissioned OBN seismic to improve data quality.
The other award is a4D OBN monitor project for Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. on the Bonga field, again due to get under way early next year.
It will involve use of Seabed Geosolutions’Hugin Explorer vessel equipped with CASE Abyss nodes.
