LONDON – Borders & Southern (B&S) has merged final processed data from its offshore the Falkland Islands 2013 3D seismic acquisition survey with reprocessed data from its 2008 3D survey. They now form one continuous volume covering an area of more than 2,500 sq km (965 sq mi).
Based on this data and Phase 2 reservoir engineering, B&S estimates the probable recoverable resource from itsDarwin (East and West combined) condensate discovery at 263 MMbbl. The volume could increase if planned appraisal drilling confirms additional reservoir intervals.
B&S is working to identify well locations for Darwin East and evaluating nearby prospects. Initial mapping has identified numerous amplitude anomalies at the same stratigraphic interval as the Darwin reservoir.
The next step will be to complete a detailed seismic reservoir characterization study, using the well data to calibrate the seismic response. This should allow the company to differentiate between oil, gas and water-charged reservoir, and therefore rank the anomalies and prospects.
B&S continues to work on bringing partners into its acreage to raise funds for next year’s rig-share drilling campaign offshore the Falkland Islands. Conceptual well designs for the company’s exploration and appraisal program is progressing, along with associated logistical planning.
