WEST PERTH, Australia ā€“ WesternGeco has started pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) reprocessing of 7,000 km (4,349 mi) of 2D seismic data acquired by Searcher Seismic in the Browse basin offshore Western Australia.

The area covered is included in the2016 Australian Acreage Release.

Searcherā€™s Vampire survey, conducted in 2010 with an 8-km (5-mi) streamer, is said to tie key exploration wells in the basin.

The PSDM reprocessing will take advantage of recent advances in technology to address the areaā€™s potential.

Joshua Thorp, geoscience manager for Searcher Seismic, said:Ā ā€œApplying broadband de-ghosting not only improves the end result, but allows greater resolution for the PSDM velocity model building at all levels.

ā€œImplementing an anisotropic PSDM workflow improves both the quality of the data and more importantly, the AVO attributes derived from this long-offset well tie dataset.ā€

Final PSDM data is expected to become available during 4Q.
