BAKU, Azerbaijan — Caspian Geo LLC has started acquisition of a new 4D high-definition ocean-bottom node seismic program over the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) Field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
According to operator bp, it represents the company’s largest seismic acquisition commitment globally in terms of the area size, cost and duration.
The campaign, focused on the Balakhany and Fasila reservoirs, will span an area of 740 sq km under source and 507 sq km under receivers and will continue through 2028.
Estimated cost is about $370 million and a duration of five years.
Planning started early last year. The intention is to perform five monitors over five years, using a combination of ocean-bottom nodes, the Murovdag dual-source vessel, and the Guba node vessel.

“We hope the most up-to-date 4D technology to be used for this program will allow us to acquire further in-depth data about the reservoir helping us identify ways to minimize future well surprises and maximize the field recovery in the next decades.”
The program will be implemented by Caspian Geo LLC.
