Offshore staff
LONDON — Perenco Congo and Congorep, the joint venture between Perenco and Republic of Congo’s state-owned Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo, have completed an offshore 3D seismic acquisition campaign.
This was focused on the Tchibouela II, Tchendo II, Marine XXVIII and Emeraude permits, andit was designed to assess the geology in the presalt at a subsurface depth of 2,000 m to 3,000 m.
The campaign followed the discovery of hydrocarbon reservoirs on neighboring permits, with Perenco Congo and Congorep keen to explore for new offshore oil fields.
Despite operational issues, such as the need to work around existing platforms, local shipping activity and variable weather, the program delivered full seismic coverage of the area.
The seismic acquisition vessel deployed a 6,000-m-long, 900-m-wide cable array with a rotation radius of 4 km.
