BERGEN — Shearwater is partnering on a new project with OMV for what it says is a "pioneering" towed streamer survey with ocean-bottom nodes over the Berling gas and condensate discovery.

Spanning 1,040 sq km, this hybrid survey is scheduled to begin in July and will last for three months.

Shearwater's SW Tasman and Oceanic Vega vessels will lead the operations. SW Tasman will operate as an ROV node deployment vessel for the first time, following its conversion announced last October and will deploy the nodes before Oceanic Vega acquires the multi-azimuth towed streamer survey.

"Shearwater's involvement in the Berling project will support OMV in realizing the field's potential in sustaining Norway’s position as an important gas supplier to Europe," Shearwater said in a press release.
