OSLO, Norway — TGS has committed to a West Coast India seismic processing project, which will complement last year’s India East Coast 2Dcubed project.
The new program will encompass all available 2D seismic data across more than 750,000 sq km off the west coast.
TGS will employ its 2Dcubed technology to create a single, conformable and easily accessible pseudo-3D dataset to assist exploration in the region.
The project will provide coverage offshore Kutch Saurashtra, Mumbai, Kerala-Konkan basins, and the Gulf of Mannar, with the data uplift allowing companies to develop structural and geological models in their pre-study evaluation process using one conformable 3D volume. Work should finish by third-quarter 2024, with first deliverables available by early next year.
2Dcubed generates a 3D seismic migration volume from a set of 2D and 3D seismic lines, with a structurally conformable interpolation algorithm applied to revitalize the data. Results can be used for regional interpretation and optimizing subsequent 3D and 2D survey designs.
TGS has undertaken similar exercises offshore Indonesia, Timor-Leste and Australia, and it has applied the same technology throughout the Norwegian and UK North Seas.
