OSLO, Norway – PGS will acquire a further 8,000 sq km of GeoStreamer3D data this summer over the Halten Terrace for its Norwegian Sea GeoStreamer X survey, following the 7,000 sq km shot last year.

It also plans a third phase of acquisition in 2024.

According to the company, GeoStreamer X combines multi-sensor broadband fidelity with rich azimuth illumination. Acquisition design can include wide-tow sources, dense streamers for improved near-offset distribution, and long streamers for accurate velocity model building.

The approach is said to enable data upgrades in any geological setting, with the dual-azimuth data supporting clients’ evaluations of subsurface risk associated with infrastructure-led exploration and appraisal.

The high-resolution data can also be used for carbon storage and offshore wind planning.

First data from this summer’s campaign should be available six months after the final shot in April 2024, with final data issued in fourth-quarter 2024.

PGS also revealed it had secured a seismic acquisition contract for carbon storage offshore Norway, with the one-month program due to start in September.
